Rachel Bailey is passionate about music, food and stories, and she’s prolific in each area. Rachel recently departed Community Connection — where she was Special Events Coordinator and helmed the reimagining and rebranding of Taste of Athens — to serve as Executive Director of My Athens. She’s excited to once again be at the helm of a beloved Athens brand, working toward leveraging it for the good of the town. Last year, Rachel also co-founded People Who Like to Eat, a community that organizes food-centric events to raise money for charities like Wholesome Wave Georgia and United Way. She’s a contributing writer for Creative Loafing Atlanta and Flagpole Magazine, as well as national publications such as Lucky Peach and Paste Magazine.
After earning a degree in Journalism, Magazines, & Photojournalism at the University of Georgia, Rachel managed social media and marketing for 5&10 Restaurant, Wholesome Wave Georgia and Farm 255, wrote for Sonicbids and Consequence of Sound, and edited for Georgia Music Magazine.
For Rachel, running My Athens is a dream come true. She values the variety of opportunities to promote and celebrate the city she loves, and she strives to help readers to learn about and contextualize their world.
